Our Role in Postgraduate Specialist Training

We house six of the 13 postgraduate specialist training bodies in Ireland:

  1. Institute of Medicine
  2. Institute of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists
  3. Faculty of Occupational Medicine
  4. Faculty of Pathology
  5. Faculty of Paediatrics
  6. Faculty of Public Health Medicine

Although we have six separate training bodies on site, we operate as a single organisation and are committed to delivering postgraduate specialist training to over 1,200 doctors in 29 specialties.

Training takes place in structured rotations on hospital sites across Ireland, and is supported by our experienced network of local trainers, Programme Directors and National Specialty Directors.

We work closely with the Medical Education and Training Unit in the Health Service Executive (HSE) to ensure that your training is delivered to the highest standards on hospital sites.
