Membership of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MFOM) is an internationally recognised benchmark of excellence, valued by healthcare employers worldwide.

MFOM is achieved through examination and is accredited by the Medical Council of Ireland as a leading knowledge-based assessment for Occupational Medicine in Ireland.

MFOM is an essential component of Higher Specialist Training in Occupational Medicine, which is the final stage of training before independent practice.

When you are conferred as a Member of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine, it marks a major milestone on the path to becoming a specialist.

The Faculty of Occupational Medicine has over 100 Members and over 230 Fellows, representing a vibrant network of doctors in your specialty. The Faculty holds three national Occupational Medicine conferences each year and co-hosted the 2018 International Congress on Occupational Health (ICOH) in Dublin.

Joining the Faculty of Occupational Medicine

After achieving Membership, you may choose to become a Collegiate Member of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine.

The Faculty is accredited by the Medical Council of Ireland and are proud to meet the strict standards required to deliver postgraduate specialist training in Occupational Medicine.

Established in 1976, we are one of six postgraduate specialist training bodies based in the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. We have close to 600 Members, who are experienced Consultant Occupational Physicians and leading experts in their field.

Our Faculty is a leadership voice that influences healthcare for the greater good. As an independent organisation representing doctors in Occupational Medicine, we are a united, powerful voice that can influence national health policies to ensure they are in the best interests of people’s health.
