COVID-19 Vaccine

National Immunisation Advisory Committee (NIAC) is involved in assessing the evidence and liaising with international stakeholders on the development and use of COVID-19 vaccines to inform the national immunisation programme. The rollout of the COVID-19 vaccination programme is implemented by the Department of Health and the Health Service Executive.

Following the European Commission authorisation of COVID-19 vaccines i.e., Comirnaty, Spikevax, Vaxzevria, COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen and Nuvaxovid, NIAC developed recommendations for their use in Ireland which is contained in the Immunisation Guidelines for Ireland. These guidelines are regularly updated and include guidance on new vaccines as they are approved.

National Immunisation Advisory Committee (NIAC) provides evidence-based advice to the Department of Health on COVID-19 vaccinations.
